We understand the bad "Animal House" stereotype that fraternities have been given by the media. We don't believe we fit that stereotype, and we hope you'll give us chance to show you how becoming a Phi Kap is one of the best decisions your son will ever make. Your son's well-being and success in higher education is very important to us, and our program is securely rooted in our 7 Core Values of Trust, Honor, Respect, Knowledge, Wisdom, Responsibility, and Integrity. With that in mind, we hope you'll talk with us about all of your concerns, either by phone or in person. Our Recruitment Chairs look forward to answering your questions:
- Shea McManigal (206) 992-2224
- Brad Young (425) 922-9288
You can also send us an email at uwphipools@gmail.com.
We also invite you to visit our house and take a tour, as well as meet the fine men called Phi Kaps. While you and your son can choose from any one of the wide selection of fraternities at the University of Washington, we're confident that after you've visited our house, you'll choose Phi Kappa Sigma, because we will help your son grow into a leader and Man of Honor.
Please spend some time to read through our website (especially the About page). It'll give you a good idea of what we stand for, and you'll also learn about how Phi Kappa Sigma develops tomorrow's leaders, today.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: About $2600 Fall quarter, $2400 Winter Quarter, and $2200 Spring quarter (so it averages out to $2400 quarterly), plus about $85 per quarter for a parking permit to park in our parking lot, as well as occasional optional expenses like t-shirts, ski and rafting trips, etc.
Q: What if we can't afford the house bill?
A: There are many scholarship opportunities and leadership positions that are available to help you and your son. Please ask our Recruitment Chairs for more info.
Q: Will my son be forced to do anything unethical or embarrassing (e.g. hazing, underage drinking)?
A: We are an anti-hazing fraternity, meaning that we work pro-actively to prevent hazing, and we maintain a strict alcohol-free and drug-free policy on fraternity property.
Q: What is my son's mailing address?
A: Put your son's name on the top line of the address, like this:
Your Son's Name
4711 17th Ave NE
Seattle WA 98105
